Cooking a tasty and satisfying meal can be simple, especially for busy individuals or those not keen on spending hours in the kitchen.

This series will be a selection of recipes you can make from supermarket products.  I will aim to keep it as simple as possible, the cooking to a minimum, and I will provide a cost per serve (in Australian dollars).  Some recipes may need additional items from your pantry, so we will start with a list of essential items and grow on them as we make more recipes.

Suggested essential list for your pantry and fridge.

  • Cooking oil;
  • Flour – plain and self-raising;
  • Salt;
  • Pepper;
  • Sugar;
  • Eggs;
  • Milk.

Let’s cook Fish Tacos.

We don’t need any additional pantry items for this dish. Fish tacos are a delightful and healthy option that can be easily prepared using ingredients from your local supermarket. With just a few simple steps, you can create a flavourful dish that will impress your taste buds and save you precious time.

Purchased:

  • 6 pack Tortillas;
  • 6 pack crumbed oven fish;
  • Mexican salad, which contained dressing and corn chip sprinkles.

Time to prepare: The cooking time of the fish was 18 minutes. In this time, the tortillas can be warmed, and salad ready to be served.

Costing per serve (2 pieces of fish, 2 wraps and salad): $5.80.

This easy recipe allows you to create a mouth-watering meal without the fuss. You’ll have a delicious fish taco feast in no time by utilising supermarket ingredients.

If you try making these easy and delicious fish tacos I’d love to hear about your experience. Did you make any variations to the recipe, or do you have other quick and tasty supermarket based recipes to share? Happy cooking!

I tried this and substituted with calamari because it was what I had in the freezer. I added some fresh chilli and lime too because I like it spicy. Quick and easy dinner idea for when I don’t have the energy to cook. Thanks!

This is a great and easy meal to whip up. Quick, easy and tastes great. I got plain coleslaw pack and a bottle of Peri peri mayo. Give it a go, you won’t regret it.
