These Duck Bao are an easy and delicious meal to make. Bao are steamed buns that are soft, fluffy, and originated in Chinese cuisine but are now popular across various parts of Asia and beyond.

These fluffy buns are perfect for filling with a variety of options, such as pork, chicken, tofu, mushrooms, or duck breast, which is what I have used here.

To make it quick and simple, you can purchase pre-cooked duck from the freezer section, which can be cooked in the oven as per the instructions.  Once cooked, slice it thinly and it’s ready to serve.

To cook the bao, you will need a steamer that can sit above a pot of boiling water.

Purchased:

  • 8 pack Bao buns;
  • 2 pack Duck Breast;
  • Crunchy slaw salad;
  • 1 cucumber.

From my Fridge:

  • Kewpie mayonnaise.

Time to prepare: 25 minutes.

  • The duck breast needs to be defrosted ahead of cooking. The cooking time was 20 minutes.
  • The bao buns are steamed and took 8 minutes once the water was boiling.

Costing per serve (1 duck breast, 2 bao buns and salad): $7.30.
